My Answers to the Questions of the Day for this Past Week
Here are some of my answers from the Questions of the Day . For new readers, I post one new Question of the Day on social media every day. I’m going to commit to writing a blog post to respond to each one every day, but as I was exceptionally busy this week, I have to combine four questions in one post.
How old were you when you got your first “real” job?- I was 16 when I got my first job. I was hired as a clerk at the CVS in the Meadow Glenn Mall in Medford, Massachusetts in 1992. (Stop trying to mentally calculate my age!!!) They put me on the cash register. It was a disaster. My drawer was short by $38 dollars at the end of my shift. No, I didn’t steal it. I obviously gave the wrong change to a customer. My bosses didn’t think I was a thief either. They gave me another shot. I eventually mastered the cash register and slowly made it up the ranks to Shift Supervisor.
How much money did you make at your first job? I started off at CVS for the princely sum of $4.25 an hour and I thought that was a lot of money.
What’s a “good day” at work for you? A good day at work for me, consists of 1. Writing at least one blog post 2. Posting helpful and educational tips to social media 3. Reaching out to new clients 4. Writing resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles for existing clients
What is your dream job? My dream job is to be a successful writer. I’m actually able to support myself through writing resumes. I dreamed about doing that for so long, especially through out all my long years as a teacher. I would like also to be a fiction author.
